A need to pay it forward

Guys…I need to share about this which I feel is necessary. There are so many misconceptions about networking industry. Someone once shared with me that she told her friend she was involved in this business. Later that day, her friend called to advise her that she should not tell others that she is involved in network marketing business or else she will lose all her friends!!!

Mention that you are in MLM or Network Marketing Business, and you will get different kinds of reaction. This is what makes the industry so interesting and at the same time, trying. We commonly hear the following response when we mention about this industry. . . . :)

I could not sell
I do not like selling
I cannot talk well
I have no friends
I do not have many contacts
It is a con man business
I cannot make money from my friends
We are cheating our friends
I am a lazy person
I am not in need of money
I do not have the time
It is a “low class” business
I want to establish my career first
I studied so hard to be a professional, it would be a waste if I don’t practice it
It is not my cup of tea
Maybe others can do it, but I could not
Not many can make it
It’s a short-term business
It’s not secure
You are too late, one must join early
Don’t mention to me MLM, it is a Get Rick Quick Scheme

Wow…what a list huh! As you can see, there’s no shortage of responses. Let’s take a look at some of them in greater detail.

I want to elaborate about “Maybe others can do it, but I could not”

Throughout my networking journey, I frequently hear my friends telling me that I can do it because I could speak and write well. I am honored but at the same time, I feel hurt by that comment. The ability to communicate is a plus, but this skill can be acquired. I would rather prefer my friends say that I dd it because I am hard-working, disciplined, determined and willing to learn and change. {ahah! like Obama…to change :) }

Guys, if we are determined to succeed in anything we do, we would be very willing to learn the skills that are needed. True, the “Tiger Woods” and “Nicol David” of this world may be talented in their respective fields, but I believe they would not have gone so far without hard work and discipline. So the question is not whether we can or cannot. It is more of whether we want to or not. If we look at this industry, the “I want to succeed” attitude will overcome all challenges that come along the way, because all the challenges are self-imposed and we can overcome them it we want to.

Guys don’t you know that The Network Marketing industry is better positioned than ever!

People simply MUST come up with a plan and, if they don’t choose Network Marketing where do they go?

- Professional sales in this economy?
- Service oriented professions in this economy?
- Traditional small business ownership in this economy?
- Corporate work in this economy?

October U.S. home sales… the lowest in 50 years, and 45% of all sales during the month were foreclosures!

U.S. foreclosures… 5 million homes in June. Today 11.5 million!

Record unemployment month after month after month

Sales professionals are suffering like never before

Retail? The following stores informed the Security Exchange of closing plans between October 2008 and January 2009.

- Circuit City stores… most recent (? how many)
- Ann Taylor- 117 stores nationwide are to be shuttered
- Lane Bryant,, Fashion Bug ,and Catherine’s to close 150 store nationwide
- Eddie Bauer to close stores 27 stores and more after January

- Footlocker closing 140 stores more to close after January

- Bombay closing remaining stores
- Zales closing down 82 stores and 105 after January.
- Whitehall closing all stores

- KB Toys closing 356 stores
- Lowe’s to close down some stores
- Dillard’s to close some stores.

Add all that to the U.S. automakers, the financial institutions and the airlines all in crisis.

PEOPLE NEED A PLAN! And there is no question that Network Marketing remains the finest “personal bail out plan” for the average person today. Nowhere else can a person start a business with so little risk and have so much upside within their reach. Will it take work? Sure, but what doesn’t? Will it be uncomfortable? Yep, but not as uncomfortable as putting your head in the sand and hoping for things to change. Will it take the discipline of learning new skills? Absolutely, but you’re probably facing that anyway (whether you recognize it or not).

I’ll say it again, if not Network Marketing, then what?

Ladies & gentlemen, my dear friends and readers, and also visitors, we are moving into our industry’s Golden Age, but only for those with the Vision to recognize it.

Tell your story, paint the vision, and work to make it a reality.

You deserve it!
