Announcement:

A wake up call regarding blogging and make money online

I am sitting in front of my TV watching ESPN News and suddenly my eyes flicking. Yup…suddenly it reminds me of my blogging activities. Day in and day out I am trying to find time to blog and sometimes it comes on odd time. Sometimes before going to sleep I blog, sometimes very early in the morning, sometimes right after management meeting…etc. So today one of my friends asked me “what do you really do during your spare time”, without thinking twice, I replied “blogging”. Walla, there it goes, I am really into blogging. When I started it is just a casual and try and error process. Now it is a business.

Some people start blogs with the intention of generating income. This is almost the most popular reason to many. Am I right? (give me a comment on this). There’s nothing wrong with that. The problem, however, is that most people approach blogging for income with the wrong mindset.

By itself a blog is not a business. A blog is merely a self-publishing tool. If you want to blog for income, then you’re really starting an online business, and that is a whole different story. A business is a for-profit venture, and if that’s what you’re looking to create, then you must learn to think like an entrepreneur, not just a blogger.

Blog as a medium and think like an entrepreneur is the juice to bring in income. Gues what? Many people start blogging to make money online. After 6 month they are gone. Why? They do not have focus. They just browse around. They do not take action. They do not implement. They do not do it. So my advise is, follow NIKE, Just Do It.

Guys, just remember this, When A Blogger’s Block Hits, STOP! only then he or she will notice that others are saying, Making Money Online Is Easy

Happy weekend. This weekend I will tell you how online business is somehow related and have the similar chemistry with a conventional business. Meantime do not worry about this, just ponder about the above.

When the Blogger’s Block Hits, STOP!

Don’t listen to all the blog guru wannabes that teaches you 10 ways, 20 ways or 30 ways to overcome a blogger’s block. There is no way. I have tried all the ways and really, there is no way to overcome a blogger’s block or a writer’s block. The harder we try, the worse it will become. What they told you and what they have written were their imaginations at work during the time that they were having a block themselves.Nothing is able to run for days to end without rest. Even the world’s most advanced robots have the hibernation mode built into them so that they will auto shut down when they becomes overheated form running 24/7. Even the world’s most advanced engine needs to be stopped for recharging. So what is the big deal about having a blogger’s block and not being able to produce anything for 2 or 3 days. You will not loose anything. Get that fact into your big fat blogger’s head.

The fact that bloggers gets all riled up when a blogger’s block strikes is due to one simple fact that had been embed in their minds from the day they started blogging. They have been reminded time and again, perhaps too many a times, they they must post at least once a day, preferably two or their blogs will never attract any visitors. With that perception in mind, coupled with the fact that they have indeed managed to garner some faithful readers after months of blogging, they fear for the very survival of their blog if they stop updating for 2 days. They imagine the dissappointed looks on their reader’s face when they come and see nothing new. Get this fact into your fat blogger head also. Your blog is not the only one that they are reading.

After getting that 2 facts into your fat blogger head, STOP. Stop for 2 or 3 days if you really feel you cannot write anything constructive. It is better to have nothing at all than to have 3 lame post in a row.

Blog readers are a smart lot. An experienced blog reader developes a gut feeling. The moment they read a post that is written without any soul or emotion, they will feel it. The moment that read something that is not written originally by you, they will also feel it. That’s because as your loyal readers, they know your writing style. Have you read post that seems different in your favorite blogger’s blog after the fifth sentence? You feel funny and out of place and when you check the author, you will realize that it was guest post.

So when the block hits, stop. Don’t go looking for things to write just for the sake of updating your blog. It will do more harm than good.

Guys, I got these tips from a fellow Malaysian Blogger. The way he is thinking is great for us to emulate and to plan about our blogging activities. His name is Costa. He maintain 3 active blogs relating to different issues. He has a pen name, Ah Pek, in the blogging world.

Why you must start blogging?

Do you have a blog? If not I would recommend you have one. For whatever reason or purpose you need to have a blog in 2008!. Example of blogs: personal blog, business blog, entertainment blog, marketing blog, cooking blog, sports blog, gossip blog, etc. Need to know more visit my friend blog who will elaborate more about type of blogs.

Here’s why:

1) It makes it very easy to update your web presence - easy is good because easy gets done (cheers!)
2) Locally you can use a blog to gain exposure that your competition can’t (hooray!)
3) Search engines love blogs and will reward you with better search results when your prospects go searching (web 2.0 trend) (see my ranking on your right…remember this blog is not yet one year in blogsphere
4) The daily and weekly activity of producing written content will make you a much better communicator, marketer and salesperson - it’s the killer activity.

If you are new to blogging, here are some tips for you on “How To Start Your Own Blog”.

Everywhere you look now someone is starting a blog. It can be for their business or even just a personal blog. Blogging Comminity, is a BIG blogging comminity with hundreds of active bloggers that are releasing hubs, or posts, about what they know.

But anyways, here are a few surefire steps in which you can start your OWN blog.

Ideas

1. Pick something you are passionate about! Say you use a certain product every single day, and you think that you could make a living writing about all the different flavors of that.

2. Make sure the market isn’t flooded with other blogs talking about the exact same thing that you are. If you find the niche you picked isn’t working, narrow it down!

Example:

* Headphones>

* Headphones> For iPod users

* Headphones> For iPod users> American

Which Blog?

After you have your niche picked and narrowed down you have to decide how you are going to blog.

Here are a few choices you can do:

1. Register a domain name and host it. This is the thing that most professional bloggers will tell you is key. Having your own .com name makes it look like you are experienced at what you do, and that you are serious. This does cost money, but it will pay off in the long run.

* Go Daddy!

* 1and1

* Network Solutions

2. Make an account at a free blogging platform. There are hundreds of these that can suit you for everything a new blogger could need. They work perfect for a new blogger that is making something for their first time and need some assistance. The best part is that they are free!

* Wordpress

* Blogger

* Thinkpad

Content

Content is king. If your blog doesn’t have something good to say then why are people coming? There are a few key things you can do to have great content, and get people hooked.

1. Write 5 or 6 articles before you start your blog, and make sure you have a few backup posts ready for the days when you don’t have time, or can’t write a post.

2. Stay on target! Don’t ramble off about something different entirely. (once or twice is okay)

3. Keep at it! If you don’t get immediate response in the first few weeks, keep going. Its bound to happen that someone will stumble on your blog and link it from their site. Its going to happen, be patient.

4. Content!

Marketing

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization is key. If you don’t show up on a search page, then how are people going to know about you? You need to actively market your website MANY different ways.

1. Go to Google and submit your site! They have a section devoted entirely to that. Make sure you have 5+ posts up before you do this, or they might reject your site.

2. Attach a link to your website on your emails, forum signatures and make sure its on your business card.

3. Send out an email to everyone in your address book telling them about your new blog, and how it can help them.

4. If you have any other pages, link to your new blog. Backlinks are how Google ranks you one there search results.

5. Contact other blogs with the same niche as you and set up a day where the both of you write up an article about each other. You both get different traffic that you might not have had.

6. Whenever you write articles, make sure you attach your name and blog address at the bottom/top so that if people re-use your article, they are re-using you.

Lastly I would recommend you to use Atomic Blogging. What is Atomic Blogging, click it on your right above (the red ebook)

Web 2.0 definition in 2006

Question : “Are You Going To Be A Spider? Or A Dinasour? In The Web 2.0 World?”

You thought you were pretty hot when you had a website and paid someone $1000 to optimize it! So where is all the traffic? Weren’t they supposed to be pouring in? WRONG! While you were sleeping, the Web 2.0 effect has changed the whole ball game. And the rules! The Internet user doesn’t just browse anymore, they can jump right in and play and create and manipulate data!

Tim O’Reilly provided a compact definition of Web 2.0 in 2006:

“Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform. Chief among those rules is this: Build applications that harness network effects to get better the more people use them.”

Perhaps the simple definition can be found in the word “you”. Time magazine summed it up best by making reference to the “you” in user generated content. Web 2.0 is basically all the platforms that give us this brave new user-powered interactive Internet, generally referred to as social media. YouTube, LinkedIn, MySpace, Flickr, de.licio.us, Wikipedia - these are all sites and tools you need to start spinning a web and connecting too. Or you can sit back and take another nap. It’s time to WAKE UP !

So what are you going to do? First and foremost, start a blog with an RSS feed, on your site or along side your site. Blogging is where it’s at. It’s not just for geeks anymore. Businesses of all sizes have joined the blogosphere by the millions. They’re seeking to connect with customers, increase their credibility and grow their businesses. You have to be an expert of sorts to really SEO your website with proper tags. But guess what, just by starting a blog with an RSS feed, and placing keyword categories into your blog, you are in the game and the whole tagging system.

Get Googled better and faster. Join as many interactive sites as you can. Digg, MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, Naymz, Squidoo. And of course, always link back to your sites in your posts and creations, in these user-created content havens. Become the spider! The more connections you have the more your own sites prosper.

Use interactive platforms on your sites. Create polls, membership forums, feedback forms, even allow user contributions. It’s all about being interactive. It’s about sharing, connecting, linking and spinning your own intricate web out into the Internet. You can’t just sit there on top of your static website and wait for people to come. Those days are GONE.

We are Business MD’s. Helping bring you new business.

Our emphasis is on helping clients accelerate sales through a combination of growing their Web presence,Web 2.0 strategies, social networking and leading edge business blogging skills.
