Announcement:

Successful Mission: What is a mission and how do you define your mission?

Okay guys, here is my first question.

“What is a mission and how do you define your mission? What does this mean for you as marketer?”

As an example, a corporation or a company has a mission statement and a company mission. If for example, BMW’s was to make as much money as possible for its share holders instead of creating the ultimate driving machine, how many cars do you think they would sell?

BMW’s mission is to build a product that is superior in every way. Safety, convenience, technology, comfort touch feel, experience, the package wrapped up in an incredible buyer’s experience.

So this make people who are obsessed with BMW, are their customers for life. Regardless where he or she lives, they will always buy BMWs from the same people at the same dealership.

Here are some of the mission statements that I gathered online.

BMW Group’s worldwide: “To be the most successful premium manufacturer in the industry.”

Wal-Mart: “To give ordinary folk the chance to buy the same thing as rich people.”

Mary Kay Cosmetics: “To give unlimited opportunity to women.”

3M: “To solve unsolved problems innovatively”

Merck: “To preserve and improve human life.”

Walt Disney: “To make people happy.”

Petronas: “Our objective is to contribute to the well-being of the people and the nation”

Notice how these one-line samples are supported by value wordings that show how the mission will be accomplished and measured.

So in our case, may it be our small conventional business or it may be our online business or a home business, we need to have a mission statement as well. This is to motivate us along the way and also remind us of what is our purpose in having those businesses. This will make us stay focus like those corporations above :)

I guess you already know what my next question is. This is my next question, “What is your mission statement? What is your “purpose”? I will tell you this in my next post. Stay tune.

Note: If you need some ideas on how to write your mission statement. Read it here, “How to write a Mission Statement” by Janel M. Radtke, or visit the site at http://www.tgci.com/

Successful Mission

Guys, about a week ago I did post a series of sharing about Successful Mindset and today I am beginning with a new sets called Successful Mission. After setting up your mind toward success now is the time for you to think about your mission.

Before that let me enlighten you with the Successful Mindset series: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (click each of the number).

So let us begins. Here it goes.

Becoming a wealthy and successful does not simply “happen”. It does not come overnight while you are sleeping. Here is a secret that people often times overlook. Success and wealth creation are a continual process of choices that have been made in a strategic fashion. One after another, these choices move you in the direction of your goals.

Simply making a string of strategic decisions will not guarantee massive wealth in and of itself. It is a great start, but there must be something greater than yourself that you are motivated to create.

I have few questions that you could ask yourself. You may not have all the answers immediately, but you deserve to be developing the answers that will move you in the direction of your goals.

What is your mission?

My mission is to developing 24 serious, passionate people to mentor in 2008.

Take me as an example, when I first know about this business, I know that my goal is even bigger than myself and I recognize that I could not make it happen alone. I repeat, I could not make it happen alone. I have to think outside the box and allow others to shine in areas in which they excel.

Are you willing to capitalize on the talents of others to reach your goals?

Do you want to join me and my team on this mission? This is one solution for you, or you can go out there and create your own system with your own mission as well . . . . . .

Get involved with this group of like-minded entrepreneurs that are creating something unique and larger than them. This exactly what I am going to share with you in this one week, if you are passionate enough.

See you in my next post, which I my ask you the first question.

“What is a mission and how do you define your mission? What does . . . . . . . . .( see ya later to finish my question and also the answer :) )

Let’s go to the mosque : “Jom ke Masjid”

This weekend I am quite tight with this program in my community. It is “Jom ke Masjid” program, where all muslim in the subang jaya community and also the surrounding area gather at the mosque starting today 13 June until Sunday, 15 June 2008. If you are free this weekend, I would like to welcome you to visit us at Masjid Darul Ehsan Subang Jaya. To all non-muslim friends, you are also welcome to meet us fellow muslim friends and join few programs at the mosque. All are welcome.

There are so many interesting programs in store for all ages, to name a few, like:

  • Free blood donation
  • Free health checkup (sugar, blood pressure, body mass index, breast cancer!)
  • Exhibition by police force
  • Futsal Sem-final and final (for adult)
  • Motobike show
  • Khat and Caligraphy contest
  • Concert by Akhil Hayy and Rabbani
  • Quran reading contest
  • Coloring contest for children with Malaysian cartonist, Ujang
  • Food stalls, business booths
  • many more . . . . .

Why “Jom ke Masjid”?

Sahi-bin-Sa’d narrates that he heard the Prophet (sallalahu’alaihi wa salam) saying, “Give glad tidings to those who go to Masjid frequently during hours of darkness, for they will have perfect light on the day of judgment”.

The value of going to Masjid in the darkness of the night shall be realized on the dreadful day of judgment when everybody shall be in a very miserable plight. In a hadith it is said, “Of all the places on this earth, the mosques are the dearest to Allah and the markets are the most offensive to Him”. In another Hadith the Masjid or the mosques are called “The gardens of Paradise”.

So let us go to masjid more frequently, starting this weekend . . . . . . . “Jom ke Masjid” . . . . . . .

Malaysians are unhappy with the government’s decision. What should we do? According to one of the group member, there are few tips to follow if one need to save money due to this fuel price hike. These are the tips posted by Karl Ngun, from 1 Million Malaysian who are sick of the RM2.70/liter Petrol Price facebook group with a discussion topic “You all are complainers . . . . just walk your talk!”

  • No more mamak - RM100 savings a month. Bring your own food to work. Another RM200 savings a month.
  • Don’t go to movies - just get your shows from the local DVD supplier. RM100 savings a month.
  • No more internet - RM88 savings a month.
  • No more Astro - RM80 savings a month.
  • No handphone - RM150 savings a month. Use public phone or just borrow from your friends!
  • Brush your teeth only once a day - as toothpaste is not cheap or just use “miswak” or”kayu sugi”.

Why is it important to improve one self, including you and me

It has been a week I have not write anything here. Sorry guys, my office work load is huge, the last one week. I am here again. Cheers! Hurrah! :)

In this hard time of the economy situation with fuel price hike, rice price skyrocketing, food shortage, we need to be composed. Am I right?

Sometimes, when all our doubts, fears and insecurities wrap ourselves up, we always come up with the idea of “I wish I was somebody else.” This is just an excuse. More often than not, we think and believe that someone or rather, most people are better than us.- when in reality, the fact is, most people are more scared than us. Believe me, they are in the same boat like us.

You spot a totally eye-catching girl sitting by herself at a party, casually sipping on a glass of juicy orange juice. You think to yourself, “she looks so perfectly calm and confident.” But if you could read through her naked mind, you would see a bunch of clouds of thoughts and you might just be amazed that she’s thinking “are people talking about why I am seated here alone?… Why don’t guys find me attractive? …I don’t like my ankles, they look too skinny… I wish I was as intelligent as my best friend.”

We look at a young business entrepreneur and say “Wooh… what else could he ask for?” He stares at himself at the mirror and murmur to himself, “I hate my big eyes… I wonder why my friends won’t talk to me… I hope mom and dad would still work things out.”

Isn’t it funny? We look at other people, envy them for looking so outrageously perfect and wish we could trade places with them, while they look at us and thinks of the same thing. We are insecure of other people who themselves are insecure of us. We suffer from low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and lose hope in self improvement because we are enveloped in quiet desperation.

Sometimes, you notice that you have an irritating habit like biting off your finger nails, having a foul mouth, and you – of all people, is the last to know.

I have a friend who never gets tired of talking. And in most conversations, he is the only one who seems to be interested in the things he has to say. So all of our other friends tend to avoid the circles whenever he’s around, and he doesn’t notices how badly he became socially handicapped – gradually affecting the people in his environment.

One key to self improvement is to LISTEN and TALK to a trusted friend. Find someone who you find comfort in opening up with even the most gentle topics you want to discuss. Ask questions like “do you think I am ill-mannered?”, “Do I always sound so argumentative?”, “Do I talk too loud?”, “Does my breath smell?”, “Do I ever bore you when we are together?”. In this way, the other person will obviously know that you are interested in the process of self improvement. Lend him your ears for comments and criticisms and don’t give him answers like “Don’t exaggerate! That’s just the way I am!” Open up your mind and heart as well. And in return, you may want to help your friend with constructive criticism that will also help him improve himself.

One of Whitney Houston’s songs says “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.” True enough. In order to love others, you must love yourself too. Remember, you cannot give what you do not have.

Before telling other people some ways on how to improve themselves, let them see that you yourself is a representation and a product of self improvement. Self improvement makes us better people, we then inspire other people, and then the rest of the world will follow.

Stop thinking of yourselves as second-rate beings. Forget the repetitive thought of “If only I was richer… if only I was thinner” and so on. Accepting your true self is the first step to self improvement. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others only to find out at the end that we’ve got 10 more reasons to envy them. Remember, God has created every human being fairly. There is no difference each of us in the eyes of the God.

We all have our insecurities. Nobody is perfect. We always wish we had better things, better features, better body parts, etc. But life need not to be perfect for people to be happy about themselves. Self improvement and loving yourself is not a matter of shouting to the whole world that you are perfect and you are the best. It’s the virtue of acceptance and contentment. When we begin to improve ourselves, we then begin to feel contented and happy.

Fuel Price Increase: RM2.70 is the magic figure!

Gosh! Awesome! Unbelievable! I do not know what to say anymore. It is 41% increase to fuel price in Malaysia. Diesel price also increased by 64%. The aftermath is similar to “killer tsunami”. So the magic figure for fuel/petrol is RM2.70 per liter and RM2.58 per liter for Diesel.

The trade and consumer affairs minister, Shahrir Abdul Samad, said the government would also give a yearly cash rebate to owners of small and medium sized cars to offset their burden from the huge hike. Will this help Malaysians in the long run? Beats me I do not know.

Then the Prime Minister said that Tenaga Nasional Bhd would be raising electricity rates by 18% for homes and 26% for business users. The announcements are part of the new fuel subsidy plan.

Here is the news from the star online:

Earlier this week, the Prime Minister said that The government will scrap ceiling prices on petrol and diesel in August, and allow market forces to determine pump prices after incorporating a new subsidy system for lower-income groups. In theory, this means when world oil prices go down, it should be cheaper to fill up at the petrol stations. The current new price among the cheapest in the region.Given rising crude oil prices at the moment, however, most likely the average Malaysian will pay more for petrol and diesel, similar to consumers in Singapore and Thailand. In effect, pump prices could be more than double the current subsidized prices.More news about the price hike is here at http://thestar.com.my/

I think our Malaysian currency which is called Ringgit Malaysia will have a smaller value. Now with RM50 in your hand, what will you get when you go out for shopping or to groceries or to the gas station?

Are we going to change of lifestyle to save money. No more going to teh-tarik, no more shopping at the mall, no more extra money for holiday. When Najib (Deputy PM) said Malaysians should change their lifestyle, he meant to change your lifestyle for the worse :(

It seems that this country has a system to rip money off from her citizens and ask them to keep quiet and live with it. The fuel had almost double its price over the last 5 to 6 years and the salary had only raised like peanuts. I think it is time for Malaysian government to start a citizen’s fairer waging system. With this scenario, the differences between the rich and the poor are stretching beyond control and the rich will always get richer ripping money off the middle and the poor. Don’t you think so?

From the repercussion of that reduced spendings which is recommended above, the nation’s economy will only suffer. Inflation will eventually happen. Your RM50 can’t get you half of the same thing you could buy 5 or 6 years ago. Expect another economic recession resulting from this unexpected fuel hike is a thing to be known in the next 6 months or in the 2009 and beyond.

What should we do? . . . . Need your feedbacks and comments, guys. It is our future in this lovely country, Malaysia. Don’t you think the price is ridiculous?
